Our website gets even better!

We are very pleased to announce that our Spanish language school website has just received a full make-over. The navigation and structure has been improved to make it even easier to find all the information you need about the Spanish courses that we run here in Panajachel, Guatemala. You can even see 2 videos about our Spanish School and Panajachel.

There is now a comprehensive section, called "Location", that brings together loads of details about Panajachel and the Atitlan region. And plenty of photos of Lake Atitlan itself.

The all new "Spanish Courses" section explains how we offer a flexible approach to learning Spanish in Guatemala and, unlike most other Spanish language schools, we can create a Spanish course just for you, with Spanish lessons when and where you want them. We do 1-to-1 Spanish lessons; but we can also teach you with up to 2 friends if you prefer. We can take the Spanish classes out into our garden or into real life situations in Panajachel. In 2007 we also started online Spanish language classes using a webcam and a system like Skype. Check out the new website for details.

We really hope that you like our new website and that it helps you decide on the Spanish language course, in Guatemala, that's perfect for you! Visit: http://www.jabeltinamit.com

It's free, it's public and if we all pool our pics we can create a fantastic photographic record of the Maya of Atitlan. Thank you!

OUR ONLINE LESSON WITH TRACE

You really can study Spanish at home! This is my view of Trace when I am teaching him Spanish online using Skype or Yahoo! Messanger or MSN PC to PC Free Phone and a webcam. The Internet is fantastic for teaching Spanish. Of course, he sees a big picture of me - its just like we are in a face-to-face Spanish lesson here in Guatemala. I have been taking online Spanish classes with Gregorio for almost a year.

I have been taking online classes with Gregorio for almost a year. The one-on-one customized attention that I get is incredibly helpful. Myteacher understands my Spanish abilities and is able to challenge me and shape the lessons accordingly. He is also quite flexible -- finding time to study around my busy and unpredictable schedule. Anyone with a computer and a good internet service now has the ability to connect and interact with people from previously unreachable corners of the globe. I am glad that I have taken this opportunity to improve my Spanish and learn more about another culture.

My online Spanish classes with Candelaria

Learning online has been a very positive experience for me. It has allowed me to learn language like youngsters learn language. They listen, repeat words, make phrases, and finally speak with sentences. Children learn tenses, vocabulary, and concepts very naturally. My online classes with Candelaria have allowed me to pursue this style of learning. My frustration with the artificial style that language schools use was immense. Why conjugate verbs on day one of class? Why was I using only the present tense after three weeks of attending classes? Why could I not speak the language? Learn to speak the basics and make your self understood in more than the present tense and then enhance with the conjugations and other things is my philosophy.

Learning online with Candelaria has allowed me to put my thoughts about what should be happening into practice. It has allowed me to taylor my program. It also gives me flexibility for my class sessions and my study time.

Thank you Candelaria.

My experiences at Jabel Tinamit Spanish School

I have had several on-line classes per week over the past few months It has been an excellent experience ...I have learned more REAL Spanish in a few months than I had in several years of traditional methods with tapes, CD's and books. I highly recomend it to anyone wanting to learn REAL Spanish quickly.

I would like to share my thoughts about the quality of these classes

I have been taking private lessons online for over 3 months and I would like to share my thoughts about the quality of these classes. At first I was nervous about sending money to someone at a school that I knew very little about but I took the plunge and used Pay Pal to pay for my first series of 10 lessons. That went smoothly and soon I was introduced to my teacher, Gladys. She is very qualified and patient. We have worked together through some complicated grammar rules and practiced conversation. She always makes me feel good about what I am learning and never makes me feel stupid when I forget something we have already discussed. Her sense of humor also helps make the lessons fun. Her patience has helped me stay with my goal of becoming more fluent. I have already taken over 30 lessons and plan to continue into the future. I recommend this school to anyone interested in learning. Patty Dodson

My opinion on the online Spanish "JAN "

My opinion on the online Spanish classes with Jabel Tinamit Spanish School.I have now had approximately 20 one hour online lessons with my Spanish teacher Canderalia. My level of Spanish is intermediate and although I have gone through all the Spanish grammar in a local school, I need to keep repeating and practicing all the various tenses and verbs, which Canderalia goes through with me very thoroughly. She doesn't let me get away with anything, and corrects me every time I make an mistake, which is what I need. We also spend a good part of each lesson getting to know each other and each others Countries customs and way of life using general conversation Spanish. This has proved very beneficial in overcoming my lack of confidence in speaking - as well as very enjoyable. I did have a few dropped connection problems when I had a 1mb connection speed, but now that I have 3mb I have had no problems at all and the lessons are very clear.Compared to local prices, a one to one lesson with a teacher from this experienced language school using their online option, is extremely affordable and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. I have just booked up for a further 20 lesson block which saves me even more, and am looking forward to improving my Spanish from the comfort of my own home, in a stress free and fun way.

Website Refresh for Spanish School Jabel Tinamit

It was time for a make-over and that is exactly what has happened to the Spanish School Jabel Tinamit website. The home page now gives a photo tour of Panajachel and a new Quick Links menu helps you find exactly what you need.

There are loads of new photographs many reproduced by kind permission of an ex-student Peter Gunnarsson (much appreciated, thanks Peter!). We've also added more information about the activities you can do ouside of Spanish language classes: boat trips across Lake Atitlan, cycle rides to Mayan villages such as Santa Cruz La Laguna, eco walking to name but three.

We hope the improved website helps you to decide on the Spanish course for you and that soon you will be enjoying the delights of Panajachel and Guatemala. It really is the perfect place to learn Spanish.

Studying online gives you the flexibility to learn from home at a time that suits you. Already we are working with students from San Diego, Atlanta, Colorado, New York, Austria and England.
